What is a disciple?
The Bible defines disciples as people who:
-are willing to submit to and follow Christ's teaching and guidance (John 8:31 &14:23)
-make following and living like Christ their first priority (Luke 9:23)
-are committed to spreading the message of the Gospel around the world (Matthew 28:18-20)
-love others as Christ loves them (John 13:34-35)

What are the promises of becoming a disciple?
In the Gospel of John 15:1-17, 26-27, Jesus promises that those who are His disciples will:
    -bear fruit (verses 5,8,16)
    -have prayers answered (verse 7,16)
-remain in His love (verse 10)
    -have Joy (verse 11)
    -love others (verses 12,17)
    -be His friend (verse 14)
-be given the Holy Spirit (verse 26)
    -testify about Him (verse 27)

How do we work to accomplish this at Valleybrook?
-We commit to learn the Word of God individually and together
(through the Like Jesus Discipleship Study, Bible Studies, Sunday school, Youth group & VBS programs, small group study, & hearing the Word
          proclaimed through Biblical preaching)

-We will strive to learn and imitate Jesus' life and ministry
(provide ministry, outreach, and service opportunities in our local community)
-We strive to hold each other accountable
-We strive to seek out and teach others to be disciples of Jesus Christ

Serving those who protect us!
Picture
Church member and Elder Ben Brychta (left) and Pastor Tracy (right) serve as volunteer chaplains for the Hamilton County 911 communications service. Nancy Harrison is the other chaplain pictured but is not a member of Valleybrook church. She is a Christian Science practitioner and also serves as a chaplain for the Chattanooga police dept.

They all three serve the communications operators and people who work at the 911 offices by being available to talk, pray, and counsel with anyone if needed. They volunteer a few hours each month covering all three shifts to serve those who serve and protect us!
